Joanne Gallacher | Broadcast Journalist

Joanne Gallacher is an award winning Broadcast Journalist with 15 years experience in commercial radio and with the BBC.

As a University student Joanne worked as a researcher on Central Weekend, a topical debate programme broadcast on Central TV. Upon graduating with a 2:1 in Broadcast Journalism Joanne began working as a reporter with Marcher Sound in Wrexham, north Wales.

She was involved in a number of big news stories including the North Wales Child Abuse Tribunal and the American murder trial of Cheshire Au Pair Louise Woodward. She has also interviewed Tony Blair whilst in office and Gordon Brown. During her time with the station, Joanne read the news and reported live on location. She was promoted to Head of News in 1998 and ran four news rooms. She later moved to Radio City in Liverpool. Here Joanne reported live on a number of stories and broke the news across Merseyside that the killers of murdered toddler James Bulger had been released. In 2001, Joanne joined BBC Wales where she worked within the New Media department and for Radio Wales.

As a freelance journalist Joanne works for Dee 106.3 where she is a reporter and newsreader. She also works for My Baby Radio and The Audio Cafe.

Joanne has a keen interest in content writing and PR. She has recently worked on media campaigns for the Odeon Cinema and Nando’s. She joined Sigma Web in 2010.
